To encourage the handing out of receipts, the Italian government has created a ‘receipt lottery’ where the customer can play for a prize using the value of the receipt. For this purpose, each individual has a number coupled to his or her tax id which they can present at the moment of payment, the ‘codice lotteria’. The issuer enters this code in the fiscal receipt, and it gets set up to a central lottery server at the time of the Z reader. Customer can, at a later time, check on the government web site if a prize was won.
The Epson printer firmware needs to be updated by a qualified Epson technician, as this involves breaking and reapplying the fiscal seal on the printer.

This option is enabled in PMPRO via Setups, Preferences, Fiscal Printer Tab:
If activated, it will ask for the code after payment before sending it to the fiscal printer (only for a ‘scontrino elettronico’).
The receipt from the fiscal printer will have a line added with the code on both copies as proof

The printer will handle the transfer of data and will send the resulting data to the Lottery server during the Z reader.
