If you change the reservation of an individual group member, the system will ask if you would like to apply the change to the entire group. In other words, if you allow the system to automatically make the same change to all other reservations of the same group. If the changes will be applied to the entire group depends on group change rules.
The first and most important rule is that all fields in a member reservation will be compared with the change that was made. The member reservation is only updated if the original field value of both reservations were the same. The following example will explain this:

If the arrival date is changed from 12-15-2004 to 12-16-2004, the arrival date of all member reservations will be updated because the original date of all reservations was the same.
If the departure date is changed from 12-16-2004 to 12-18-2004, only the departure date of the first reservation will be update because the original date of both reservations was the same. The departure date of the second member reservation will not be update, because it's departure date is different then the original date of the reservation you changed.
Changing the paymaster (the dummy reservation) will never result in group changes and the paymaster is always excluded from group changes.
