Create a report

The Amadeus - PMPRO system includes a very powerful reports generator, with which almost every report can be created. Due to it's vast functionality, you should have a thorough knowledge of SQL, the Amadeus - PMPRO database structure and report generators before you can create a report from scratch.

If you are not familiar with SQL, the Amadeus - PMPRO database structure or report generators, you can also order a custom report which will be created according to your wishes.

The steps below explain the basic steps you need to follow to create a new report.

Creating or changing reports is not a training item during system installation, it is therefore excluded from support agreements.

1. Create a Report menu entry

   1. Choose Define Reports from the Setup » Reports menu.

   2. Choose [New] to create a new report menu entry.

   3. The edit window appears, enter a report name in the Description field. This name is displayed in the report menu. Press the three dots icon enter a description in multiple languages.

   4. Choose a menu option in the Report menu field. This setting determines in which report menu the report appears.

   5. Select an Output option for the report. Dialog allows you to choose between print or preview, Printer will directly print the report, DBF will export the data to a FoxPro .DBF file and CSV will export the data to a comma separated text file.

   6. Enter the report file name in the Report field. The name may have up to 8 characters and must have the extension .FRX. Example: myreport.frx.

   7. Choose the Dialog option. The dialog window appears. This is used to define the dialog that should appear if the report is being started.

   8. Choose [OK] to save the dialog definition and [OK] again to save the new report definition.

2. Create the SQL statement

   The SQL statement collects all date from the Amadeus - PMPRO database.

   1. Select the report for which you would like to create the SQL and choose [SQL].

   2. Notepad opens an empty document with the name SqlState.Txt to enter your SQL statement. The SQL (Structured Query Language) is used to specify which information must be selected and printed from the Amadeus - PMPRO database.

   3. Close notepad and save the changes. You automatically return back to Brilliant

   4. Press any key and choose [OK] to save the SQL in Brilliant.

3. Create the Report Lay-out

   1. Select the report for which you would like to create the report layout.

   2. Choose [Modify] to open report designer. An empty layout file will be created automatically. Add fields, variables, text, images etc.

   3. Choose File » Save and File » Close after you finished designing the report lay-out.

   4. The new report is now ready.

   5. Test the report. In case of any errors, choose [Edit], [SQL] or [Modify] to fix the problem.

   A report can contain many fields, variables and expressions. The report cannot be printed if a mistake was made. To make it easier to find problem, you should create reports in small steps with a test after each change.
