Amadeus PM PRO Installation

Amadeus - PMPRO is usually installed on the application or file server in your hotel network by a qualified Amadeus - PMPRO Installer. The below information is to serve as a general reference guide to System Administrators who would like to understand the Amadeus - PMPRO installation process. Installations vary from hotel to hotel, not all situations are covered in this procedure.

Do NOT repeat this procedure after you have already used Amadeus - PM PRO as this will overwrite all information you already entered in the system without a warning!

Steps marked with an * (asterisk) are applicable to installations with Amadeus - PMPRO version 10.1 with a PCI compliant configuration and all installation with Amadeus - PMPRO version 10.2 and newer.

1. Make sure your server meets the system requirements.

2. Log on to the server as an Administrator.

3. Start the setup program for Amadeus - PMPRO .

4. The setup is password protected to prevent unauthorized installation. Enter the password and click the OK button followed by the Next button.

5. By default the system will be installed on C:\Brilliant. You can change the location but make sure you always install in a folder named Brilliant.

   • C:\Brilliant

   • C:\Program Files\Brilliant

   • D:\APPS\Brilliant

   • Etc.

   During installation, the setup will create two subfolders:

   • \Brilliant\PMS: the PMPRO program folder
   • \Brilliant\Setups: a folder used to save all installation related files

    

6. Click the Next button after you have specified the target installation folder. Verify the settings and click the Next button again.

7. Open the \Brilliant\PMS\Samples folder after the setup has finished. Then open the "language" folder of the preferred language you will use PMPRO.

8. Copy the Hotel.ini and Ifc.ini files and paste them into the \Brilliant\PMS folder.

9. Install the Amadeus - PMPRO Common Runtime setup.

10. * Install PCI compliancy files.

    1. Install the PMPROPCIsetupFiles.exe setup from the \Brilliant\Setups\PCI folder.

    2. Install the DotNetfrx35setup.exe setup from the \Brilliant\Setups\PCI folder.

    3. Install Windows Installer 4.5 from the from the \Brilliant\Setups\PCI\<WindowsVersion> folder.

    4. Install Windows Powershell 1.0 from the \Brilliant\Setups\PCI\<WindowsVersion> folder. For Server 2008:

       1. Go to Programs » Administrative Tools » Server Manager.

       2. Open Features summary and check if Powershell is already installed.

       3. If Powershell is not installed, select Add features and select Powershell.

       4. Click the Next button followed by the Install button.

       5. Close Server Manager

11. * Install Microsoft SQL server Express.

    1. Continue with step 12 if it has already been installed (never uninstall an existing SQL Server system).

    2. Install Microsoft SQL server Express from the \Brilliant\Setups\PCI folder (SQLEXPRWT_***_ENU.exe).

    3. Select Installation » New SQL Server stand-alone installation from the SQL Server Installation Center.

    4. Click the OK button on Setup Support Rules or correct all failures and re-run the Setup Support Rules.

    5. Click the Next button on the Product Key screen.

    6. Accept the license terms and click the Next button.

    7. Click the Install button to install the Setup Support Files.

    8. Click the Next button on Setup Support Rules or correct all failures and re-run the Setup Support Rules.

    9. On Feature Selection, select Database Engine Services and Management Tools (basic) and click the Next button.

       • Not required: SQL Server replication

       • Not required: SQL Client Connectivity SDK

    10. Click the Next button on Instance Configuration and leave defaults.

    11. Click the Next button on Disk Space requirements.

    12. Select NTAuthority\System credentials for SQL Server Database Engine on Server Configuration and set both SQL Server Database Engine and SQL Server Browser to startup type Automatic

    13. Click the Next button.

    14. Select Mixed mode on Database Engine configuration.

        • Set password to <SQLserver>

        • Add Administrator as SQL Server Administrator

    15. Click the Next button on Error and Usage reporting and leave defaults.

    16. Click the Next button on Installation Rules or correct all failures and re-run the Installation Rules.

    17. Click the Install button to continue installation.

    18. Click the Next button followed by the Close button to complete the installation.

    19. Close the SQL Server Installation Center.

    20. Install possible service packs

12. * Create the ‘PMPRO’ Databases

    1. Start the SQL Server Management Studio Express application from Programs » Microsoft SQL Server (2008).

       • In case SQL Server (express) was already installed, check the following setting:

       • Right click <Servername (SQLserver xxxx)> and select properties.

       • Select the security page.

       • Server authentication should be set to SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode.

       • Click the OK button to close

    2. Login with the default Windows credentials (Login Server Name = pcname\SQLEXPRESS.

    3. Right click databases » new database and create a new database with the name PMPRO.

    4. Select this new created database.

    5. Double click the \Brilliant\Setups\PCI folder\PMPRO_pci_create_objects.sql' script file. This opens a new Query window. Execute this query.

    6. Right click the PM PRO databases » properties » options

    7. Set recovery model to 'Simple'

    8. Set option 'Auto Close' to False (Other options: Automatic)

    9. Repeat from step c. and create a new database with the name PM PROtrain.

13. * Create an SQL Server Login

    1. In SQL Server Management Studio, expand pcname\SQLEXPRESS

    2. Right click Security » New » Login and create a new login with the name PM PROdbuser.

       • Set the authentication to SQL Server authentication.

       • Enter the password. This password must be provided by the Responsible Property Manager or System Administrator. Never loose this password or you will loose access to the database and all information stored in it!

       • Uncheck the “Enforce password expiration” setting.

       • Set the default database to PMPRO.

    3. Repeat from steps b. and create a login with the name PMPROdbtrain.

14. * Create database users

    1. In SQL Server Management Studio, expand pcname\SQLEXPRESS.

    2. Expand Databases.

    3. Expand the PMPRO database.

    4. Right click Security » New » User and create a new user with the name PM PROdbuser.

       • Select the login name: PMPROdbuser.

       • Under Role Members check db_datareader and db_datawriter.

    5. Repeat from step from c. for database PMPROtrain and create a user with the name PM PROdbtrain.

    6. Close SQL Server Management Studio Express.

15. *  Create database login for PMPRO

    1. Start the \Brilliant\PMS\SetupMSSQL.exe utility.

    2. Enter the database name PMPRO.

    3. Enter the server name pcname\SQLEXPRESS .

    4. Enter the user name PMPROdbuser.

    5. Enter the SQL Server Login password specified in step 13.

    6. Close the tool when the credentials are successfully encrypted and saved. Correct possible mistakes when credentials are not stored.

16. * Create SQL Backup

17. Create a shortcut to Amadeus - PMPRO onto the desktop of "all users".

    • Open the folder \Brilliant\PMS.  

    • Right click the file Hotel8.exe and choose Create shortcut.

    • Right click the shortcut and choose Rename and rename to Amadeus - PM PRO .

    • Right click the shortcut again and choose Cut.

    • Browse to and right click the "all users" or "public" desktop folder and choose Paste.

    The folder location depends on the Windows version on which you need to create the shortcut:

    • Windows Server 2008: C:\Users\Public\Desktop

    • Windows Server 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

    The "all users" or "public" desktop folder may be hidden. If you can't see this folder you need to change the visibility setting in Windows Explorer:

    • Windows Server 2008: Organize » Folder and Search Options » [View] » Hidden files and folders » Show hidden files, folders or drives

    • Windows Server 2003: Tools » Folder Options » [View] » Hidden files and folders » Show hidden files, folders or drives

18. Share the Brilliant folder to make the Amadeus - PMPRO software accessible by all workstations. This task should be performed by your system administrator. You do not need to share the Amadeus - PMPRO folder in case this folder is located inside a folder which is already shared.

    • Right click the Brilliant folder you and select Sharing and Security.  

    • Select the option Share this folder.  

    • Click the Permissions button.  

    • Select Everyone in the Group or user names area.

    • Check the Full Control option in the Permissions for Everyone area.  

    • Click the Apply button followed by the OK button.

19. Make sure all Amadeus PMPRO users have full rights and full control to the Amadeus - PMPRO installation folder. This setting must be made on the folder level as well as on the shared folder level. Failing to do so may result in a "Cannot update cursor" error and data loss.

20. Continue the installation on Amadeus PMPRO workstations.

21. Continue with the Amadeus PMPRO Configuration.

22. Create a Amadeus - PMPRO training version after Amadeus PMPRO configuration has been completed.

    1. Copy the \Brilliant\PMS folder.

    2. Paste into the \Amadeus - PMPRO folder and rename to \Brilliant\Training.

    3. * Create a database login for the PMPRO training version on database PMPROdbtrain with user name PMPROdbtrain (see step 15. for details).

    4. Start the PMPRO training version.

    5. Go to Setup » Users » Users and delete all users.

    6. Create two new users: Manager and Train with strong passwords.

    7. Give the details to the property manager. It is the managers responsibility to maintain the password for both users in the training version. The password must be changed every xx days to prevent lock out.

    8. create a shortcut to the hotel8.exe with the parameter TRAINING and a different icon to keep the training apart from the live system
